Actor turned producer Tom Hanks is now at work on his second HBO project, a half-hour comedy about college athletes to be titled Players, reports the Hollywood Reporter. This comes mere months after Hanks and his partner Gary Goetzman came onboard to produce HBO's adaptation of Neil Gaiman's 2001 novel American Gods. Now that's a partnership we can sign off on. What's next for Tom Hanks?

With Tom Hanks' latest film, Larry Crowne, premiering July 1st of this  year, what's next for the superstar?  Hanks and his Playtone production company are working on an HBO series based on the Neil Gaiman novel American Gods and even a movie version of the Broadway version of Green Day's American Idiot.  They're also in talks with past collaborator Robert Zemeckis to direct Major Matt Mason, a live action 3D film based on the Mattel action figure, which will be the next project for Playtone and Hanks.
