Jim Carrey to host SNL this season

From Vulture:
We already know that Chris Pratt, Sarah Silverman, and Bill Hader are scheduled to host the first three episodes of SNL this season. Now The Wrap reports that Jim Carrey will also hostSNL this fall. This will make a third turn as host for Carrey, following his 1996 and 2011 appearances. The Wrap doesn't specify a date, but it will be surrounding Dumb and Dumber To's November 14 release, so at minimum, expect one or two sketches where Carrey wears a sweater.

Are we close to "Eternal Sunshine" memory erasing?

Believe it or not, there is technology being developed to erase memories, just like in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. From UPROXX:
It’s long been held that there can be benefit to erasing memories; after all, if you’re constantly reliving a painful memory, getting rid of it sounds like bliss. And now, there’s actual science that lets us do this.
The basic idea is to blast your noggin with electricity while it’s transferring memories, like of like yanking the power on a hard drive while it’s transferring files. OK, so that’s an oversimplification, but that’s essentially how memory erasing works, according to Nature:
"The team later prompted patients to recall only one of the stories by replaying part of that slide show. Immediately afterwards, when the reactivated memory is thought to be vulnerable, the patients received electroconvulsive therapy. One day later, when given a multiple-choice memory test, patients were significantly worse at remembering details from the reactivated story, performing near chance."
If you were wondering, yes, electroconvulsive therapy is “shocking mentally ill people with electricity.” As bizarre as it sounds, ECT does actually work in specific cases, even if nobody really knows why, and it’s usually paired with drugs to treat depression. It is also the last resort, however.
This still needs a lot of research; the memories eventually come back, so this method of memory erasing isn’t perfect. But it seems likely that sooner, rather than later, we’ll all be living in a Jim Carrey movie. Hey, at least it’s not The Number 23.

Jim Carrey boards an Iowa high school baseball team's bus

The following picture is another example as to why I think Jim Carrey will be the next Bill Murray. Carrey was spotted at an Iowa Burger King by a high school baseball team, and he later followed them back to their bus to take a picture with them:

Jim Carrey won't promote 'Kick-Ass 2'

I like Jim Carrey, but I'm not sure if I fully agree with this. Yesterday, Jim tweeted "I did Kickass a month b4 Sandy Hook and now in all good conscience I cannot support that level of violence. My apologies to e" and "I meant to say my apologies to others involve with the film. I am not ashamed of it but recent events have caused a change in my heart."

I mean, the movie is already done and is already going to be in thousands of theatres this year. I'm sure none of the other actors support the violence in the film, but during promotional appearances I'm sure they'll be supporting the actual movie instead. Not to mention that Kick-Ass 2 is rated R, and I doubt the violence will influence anybody of age that watches it.

Jim Carrey is Ricky Stanicky

From Vulture:

Jim Carrey is reteaming with his Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls director Steve Oedekerk for Ricky Stanicky. The former James Franco vehicle is "an ensemble comedy in the vein of The Hangover, and begins when three teens pull a prank and burn down a house in their neighborhood." The kids create a fake person to pin the arson on — Ricky Stanicky — and are forced as adults to hire a washed-up actor to temporarily bring Stanicky to life. Carrey is Stanicky.

Jim Carrey and Adam Sandler in Guardians of the Galaxy?

From ComingSoon:
There's been a lot of talk about who will play the lead role in Marvel Studios' upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy, but not as much for the supporting cast. Latino Review is reporting that Marvel is looking into the availabilty of actors Jim Carrey and Adam Sandler for the film. It's not clear which roles they're looking at for them, but the most sensible answer would be the tiny, loud-mouthed rodent Rocket Raccoon.
I know they'd probably be doing the voice of Rocket Raccoon, but it would be hilarious if Jim Carrey were dressed up as a raccoon. Right?

Guardians of the Galaxy is set to film this summer with a planned August 1, 2014 release.

Jim Carrey is 51 today

One of my favorite actors and comedians, Jim Carrey turned 51 today. Hard to believe he's that old, since he still seems like a child at heart. Even harder to believe that Betty White turned 91 today. She's still got it!

Happy Birthday!

So is the Dumb and Dumber sequel happening (again)?

Last I heard, Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels had pulled out of the Dumb and Dumber sequel, Dumb and Dumber To. But now I'm hearing that the Farrelly Brothers have written an "impressive" script for the movie, and Peter Farrelly seems to think Carrey is on board. So which is it? Personally I'd love to see the sequel come to fruition, but it absolutely needs both Carrey and Daniels on board. Apparently the film is already being financed (but not in production), and will follow Harry and Lloyd 20 years after the first. Stay tuned for more when it becomes available!

What's next for Jim Carrey?

From ComingSoon:
Jim Carrey is said to be eyeing a leading role in Loomis Fargo, Variety reports. The film, based on the true story of one of the largest bank heists in history, will be directed by Jared Hess (Napoleon Dynamite, Nacho Libre).

In 1997 David Scott Ghannt, the driver of a Loomis Fargo & Company armored car, formed a criminal team in Charlotte, North Carolina to steal $17.3 million. Although the robbery was initially successful, Ghannt and his co-conspirators were later tracked down and arrested.

The script, originally by Emily Spivey, has since been rewritten by Jody Hill and Danny McBride and, most recently, by Chris Bowman and Hubbel Palmer.

Carrey's next project is The Incredible Burt Wonderstone, which he is starring in with Steve Carell.

Jim Carrey AND Jeff Daniels pull out of Dumb and Dumber To

Pun intended. The other day, news broke that Jim Carrey pulled out of the Dumb and Dumber sequel, Dumb and Dumber 2, due to holdups with the movie. Well, apparently today Jeff Daniels, when asked about the overdue sequel, said that without Jim there is no Jeff. Honestly, no surprise there. The movie would not be good and should not even happen without both Carrey and Daniels. Hopefully the Farrelly Brothers can fix this issue, as I'd still love to see this movie.

Truman Show Delusion

So, apparently real, actual people that live in this same world as you and I suffer from something called "Truman Show Delusion."  Sufferers think they are secretly being filmed and that everyone in their lives are actors; much like the events in the Jim Carrey film The Truman Show in which he was selected at birth to be the unknowing "star" of a reality show. Psychiatrists Joel and Ian Gold coined the term "Truman Show Delusion" back in 2008 and have documented 5 cases of this strange mental disorder, with several other cases making news around the world.

The most recent case involves Nicholas Marzano, a man from Illinois who is suing HBO on claims that the network is filming him without his consent using hidden cameras installed in his home and car.  Oh, and he says that pretty much the entire town is in on the show, and HBO is preventing him from getting a job and money.  Right.  But watch out, since the Golds think the rise of technology will give rise to more "Truman Show Delusions."  Read more about the individual cases at Buzzfeed.

Dumb and Dumber 2 to begin production

I've mentioned it before, but now it's actually happening. Filming for Dumb and Dumber 2 is set for September, starring Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels, and directed by the Farrelly Brothers. Personally, as long as Jim and Jeff are doing it, I'm on board. Can't be worse than Dumb and Dumberer, right?

Pierre Pierre

From ComingSoon:
Screen Daily is reporting that the comedy Pierre Pierre, which would team comedian Jim Carrey with Borat director Larry Charles, is back on track thanks to the help of Mark Damon's Foresight Unlimited, which has closed distribution deals in a number of international markets.
The plans are for the comedy, about a self-indulgent Frenchman who plans on stealing the Mona Lisa to get enough money to move out of his parent's house, to start shooting in Europe, mostly Germany, over the summer.
