So is the Dumb and Dumber sequel happening (again)?

Last I heard, Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels had pulled out of the Dumb and Dumber sequel, Dumb and Dumber To. But now I'm hearing that the Farrelly Brothers have written an "impressive" script for the movie, and Peter Farrelly seems to think Carrey is on board. So which is it? Personally I'd love to see the sequel come to fruition, but it absolutely needs both Carrey and Daniels on board. Apparently the film is already being financed (but not in production), and will follow Harry and Lloyd 20 years after the first. Stay tuned for more when it becomes available!

Jim Carrey AND Jeff Daniels pull out of Dumb and Dumber To

Pun intended. The other day, news broke that Jim Carrey pulled out of the Dumb and Dumber sequel, Dumb and Dumber 2, due to holdups with the movie. Well, apparently today Jeff Daniels, when asked about the overdue sequel, said that without Jim there is no Jeff. Honestly, no surprise there. The movie would not be good and should not even happen without both Carrey and Daniels. Hopefully the Farrelly Brothers can fix this issue, as I'd still love to see this movie.

Dumb and Dumber 2 to begin production

I've mentioned it before, but now it's actually happening. Filming for Dumb and Dumber 2 is set for September, starring Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels, and directed by the Farrelly Brothers. Personally, as long as Jim and Jeff are doing it, I'm on board. Can't be worse than Dumb and Dumberer, right?

Bruce Almighty 2 in development?

From Vulture:

"Almost a decade and one blundered spinoff later, Bruce Almighty returneth. Variety reports that Universal is developing a sequel to the 2003 hit with Jim Carrey "in mind" and is looking at writers Jarrad Paul and Andrew Mogel, responsible for Hot Tub Time Machine and co-writers on Carrey's 2008 comedy Yes Man, which was zany! Carrey mentioned the prospect of another Bruce Almighty during the press rounds for last summer's Mr. Popper's Penguins, but he also hinted at a much tastier resurrection: Dumb and Dumber 2. Can we get a one-for-the-studio, one-for-everyone-else deal here?"
I have my reservations for these sequels, but I'm glad Jim Carrey is attached to star.  And hey, they can't be worse than Evan Almighty or Dumb and Dumberer, right? It'll be interesting to see how they pan out.

Jim Carrey Career Timeline

I brought you career timelines of Adam Sandler and Eddie Murphy, and now it's time for Jim Carrey (one of my favorite actors). It's really interesting to note how almost all 3 graphs have peaks at 3 specific spots: The Mask/Dumb and Dumber, The Truman Show, and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.  Conversely, all 3 have a valley at Fun with Dick and Jane.  And for proof that the critics don't always agree with the viewers, look at the disparity for The Number 23 and Yes Man.  Click for full-size version.

Dumb and Dumber 2 moving forward?

From Vulture:
It's been seventeen years Dumb and Dumber was released (Yes, you are old! You're so old, just incredibly old, stop being so old), but a few months ago, Jim Carrey began floating the notion that he might be down for a super-belated sequel. Now, it looks like Dumb and Dumber 2 is becoming a reality: Deadline reports that writers have been hired to script the film, and Peter and Bobby Farrelly (who directed the original) hope to segue to it after finishing up work on The Three Stooges. But what if Lauren Holly holds out? What then? [Deadline]
Also, from ComingSoon.net:

With plans for a sequel originally reported by ComingSoon.net earlier this year, Deadline now has word that another Dumb and Dumber film has hired the writing pair of Sean Anders and John Morris. ..... Anders and Morris are best known as the pair behind the comedy Sex Drive as well as the upcoming I Hate You, Dad.

Bruce Almighty and Dumb and Dumber sequels?

No, I'm not talking about the spinoff Evan Almighty or the prequel Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd.  I'm talking about actual sequels to Bruce Almighty and Dumb and Dumber starring Jim Carrey himself.  From ComingSoon.net:

"We're talking about maybe returning to some old characters that everyone has been asking about," Carrey teased when asked what he might follow [Mr. Popper's] Penguins with, "...There's 'Bruce Almighty' and we're talking about maybe another 'Dumb and Dumber.'"
Will the sequels be called Bruce Almighty-er and Dumb and Dumberer-er?  Only time will tell.
