Harrison Ford joins the cast of 'Anchorman: The Legend Continues'

"Harrison Ford has officially joined the cast of Adam McKay's Anchorman: The Legend Continues. He joins the returning Will Ferrell, Christina Applegate, Steve Carell, David Koechner and Paul Rudd as well as fellow newcomers Kristen Wiig, James Marsden, Dylan Baker and Meagan Good.

A sequel to 2004's Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, Anchorman: The Legend Continues is about to begin production in Atlanta, Georgia. It is expected to hit theaters December 20th of this year. 

Ford's role is said to be that of an esteemed new anchor, a part somewhat similar to the role he played in 2010's Morning Glory."

There will be more 'Star Wars' films aside from the next trilogy

Even more Sin City casting news

The last main character for Sin City: A Dame to Kill For has finally been cast. It was announced today that Eva Green will play Ava Lord in the film, which is in production now. Besides Green, Julian Garner has been cast as another new character, Marcy. That should be it for the casting news, but we'll see!

Jim Carrey and Adam Sandler in Guardians of the Galaxy?

There's been a lot of talk about who will play the lead role in Marvel Studios' upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy, but not as much for the supporting cast. Latino Review is reporting that Marvel is looking into the availabilty of actors Jim Carrey and Adam Sandler for the film. It's not clear which roles they're looking at for them, but the most sensible answer would be the tiny, loud-mouthed rodent Rocket Raccoon.

I know they'd probably be doing the voice of Rocket Raccoon, but it would be hilarious if Jim Carrey were dressed up as a raccoon. Right?

Guardians of the Galaxy is set to film this summer with a planned August 1, 2014 release.

So is the Dumb and Dumber sequel happening (again)?

Last I heard, Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels had pulled out of the Dumb and Dumber sequel, Dumb and Dumber To. But now I'm hearing that the Farrelly Brothers have written an "impressive" script for the movie, and Peter Farrelly seems to think Carrey is on board. So which is it? Personally I'd love to see the sequel come to fruition, but it absolutely needs both Carrey and Daniels on board. Apparently the film is already being financed (but not in production), and will follow Harry and Lloyd 20 years after the first. Stay tuned for more when it becomes available!

What's next for Quentin Tarantino?

Speaking to The Root, Tarantino said that "there's something about this that would suggest a trilogy. My original idea for Inglourious Basterds way back when was that this [would be] a huge story that included the [smaller] story that you saw in the film, but also followed a bunch of black troops, and they had been f--ked over by the American military and kind of go apes--t. They basically -- the way Lt. Aldo Raines (Brad Pitt) and the Basterds are having an "Apache resistance" -- [the] black troops go on an Apache warpath and kill a bunch of white soldiers and white officers on a military base and are just making a warpath to Switzerland." 

He added: "So that was always going to be part of it. And I was going to do it as a miniseries, and that was going to be one of the big storylines. When I decided to try to turn it into a movie, that was a section I had to take out to help tame my material. I have most of that written. It's ready to go; I just have to write the second half of it.

 

"That would be the third of the trilogy. It would be [connected to] Inglourious Basterds, too, because Inglourious Basterds are in it, but it is about the soldiers. It would be called Killer Crow or something like that."

 

The "All-State Guy" to replace Michael Clarke Duncan in the next Sin City

Due to Duncan's unfortunate passing, Dennis Haysbert (the All-State Guy/Pedro Cerrano) will star as Manute in the next Sin City film, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For. So if you suddenly want to swith to All-State after watching the new movie, this casting addition is why!

Star Wars Episode VII may already have a writer UPDATED

Damn, that was fast! Apparently there's already a 50 page treatment for Star Wars: Episode VII, written by Toy Story 3 screenwriter Michael Arndt according to Vulture. The draft apparently includes Luke, Leia, and Han Solo, as it should. Should be interesting; stay tuned for more details in the NEXT 3 YEARS.

UPDATE!  The speculation is true, and Arndt will provide the screenplay for Star Wars: Episode VII. Not much else known at this point...

LEGO movie release date pushed up... In other news, there's going to be a LEGO movie?

Pretty sure that's the longest title for a post on my blog...

Anyway, yes, there's going to be a full length Lego movie called LEGO; unfortunately it will be 3D CGI instead of stop-motion. But it has Morgan Freeman voicing a character, and apparently Will Arnett as Batman? I don't know, sounds crazy. It'll be out February 7th, 2014.

What's next for Jim Carrey?

Jim Carrey is said to be eyeing a leading role in Loomis Fargo, Variety reports. The film, based on the true story of one of the largest bank heists in history, will be directed by Jared Hess (Napoleon Dynamite, Nacho Libre).

In 1997 David Scott Ghannt, the driver of a Loomis Fargo & Company armored car, formed a criminal team in Charlotte, North Carolina to steal $17.3 million. Although the robbery was initially successful, Ghannt and his co-conspirators were later tracked down and arrested.

The script, originally by Emily Spivey, has since been rewritten by Jody Hill and Danny McBride and, most recently, by Chris Bowman and Hubbel Palmer.
 

 Carrey's next project is The Incredible Burt Wonderstone, which he is starring in with Steve Carell.

Ghostbusters 3 being rewritten

So hopefully this script will entice Bill Murray once again? Coming Soon reports that Etan Cohen (no, not Ethan Coen unfortunately) has signed on to rewrite the script.  He wrote Tropic Thunder, so this could be a good move. It almost has to be, right?
Also, Dan Aykroyd gives some info:

"My character, Ray, is now blind in one eye and can't drive the cadillac. He's got a bad knee and can't carry the packs... Egon is too large to get into the harness. We need young blood and that's the promise. We're gonna hand it to a new generation."

Sin City: A Dame to Kill For gets release date

The sequel to Sin City, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, finally has a release date of October 4th, 2013.  Casting is already underway, with Jessica Alba and Mickey Rourke (so far) reprising their roles.  Mark your calendars!

Apparently Bill Murray might do Ghostbusters 3 again

Yep, according to ComingSoon there's still a possibility that Bill Murray will do Ghostbusters 3.  Dan Aykroyd (and myself) had previously stated Bill was out and that the film as a whole was suspended.  Let's hope Murray finally agrees to this, I'd like to see the finished product.

Sin City 2 finally to begin production!

It's about damn time! It's only been what, 7 years? Sheesh.  From ComingSoon:

Filmmakers Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller, along with producer Alexander Rodnyansky, have announced that production will commence on the highly anticipated sequel to 2005's Sin City, entitled Sin City: A Dame To Kill For. The film will be produced by AR Films and Quick Draw Productions, financed through AR Films U.S and released domestically by Dimension Films.

"The first question I am always asked is 'When will you make another Sin City? ,' said Rodriquez.  "I have wanted to re-team with Frank Miller and return to the world he created since the day we wrapped the original, but have felt a duty to the fans to wait until we had something truly exceptional that would meet and exceed what have become epic expectations. A Dame To Kill For will certainly be worth the wait."

Sin City creator, screenwriter and co-director Frank Miller said, "The first Sin City knocked out audiences who had never seen anything like it before. Robert Rodriguez and I are going to shake things up and deliver a ferocious film experience that is going to go even further than the first."

Dumb and Dumber 2 to begin production

I've mentioned it before, but now it's actually happening. Filming for Dumb and Dumber 2 is set for September, starring Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels, and directed by the Farrelly Brothers. Personally, as long as Jim and Jeff are doing it, I'm on board. Can't be worse than Dumb and Dumberer, right?

Hangover 3 coming in 2013

Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures are reteaming with Todd Phillips for "The Hangover Part III," the third installment in the record-breaking comedy franchise, which is slated for release on
May 24, 2013. The announcement was made today by Jeff Robinov, President Warner Bros. Pictures Group.

"The Hangover Part III" will star Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms and Zach Galifianakis, who will reprise the roles of Phil, Stu and Alan, collectively known to moviegoers as the Wolfpack. In the previous two films, the three friends' attempts to plan a celebration have resulted in disaster for them, but led to a combined billion-dollar success at the worldwide box office.

In making the announcement, Robinov stated, "We are extremely pleased to have Todd Phillips and the guys back together again for another 'Hangover,' and we look forward to collaborating with them on another great movie."

Phillips said, "I'm so excited to embark on another 'Hangover' film with Bradley, Ed and Zach. We're going to surprise a lot of people with the final chapter we have planned. It will be a fitting conclusion to our three-part opera of mayhem, despair and bad decisions."

Screen Daily is reporting that the comedy Pierre Pierre, which would team comedian Jim Carrey with Borat director Larry Charles, is back on track thanks to the help of Mark Damon's Foresight Unlimited, which has closed distribution deals in a number of international markets.

The plans are for the comedy, about a self-indulgent Frenchman who plans on stealing the Mona Lisa to get enough money to move out of his parent's house, to start shooting in Europe, mostly Germany, over the summer.
