High schooler breaks 4 minute mile

On Saturday, Lukas Verzbicas became only the 5th high schooler ever to run a sub 4 minute mile.  His time was 3:69.71, which is basically a full out sprint for a mile. That is ridiculous.  I could only run a 5:30 mile, and would have to train for years to probably break a 5 minute mile.

What's next for Tom Hanks?

With Tom Hanks' latest film, Larry Crowne, premiering July 1st of this  year, what's next for the superstar?  Hanks and his Playtone production company are working on an HBO series based on the Neil Gaiman novel American Gods and even a movie version of the Broadway version of Green Day's American Idiot.  They're also in talks with past collaborator Robert Zemeckis to direct Major Matt Mason, a live action 3D film based on the Mattel action figure, which will be the next project for Playtone and Hanks.

"Noah" to be Aronofsky's next film?

From ComingSoon.net:

"Darren Aronofsky looks to be finally moving towards production on Noah, his epically-scaled retelling of the biblical story of Noah and his ark. Deadline has the story, explaining that the Black Swan director is looking for backers for the film's proposed $130 million budget.

With Aronofsky's script undergoing rewrites by John Logan, it's likely a matter of studio backing as to whether Noah becomes his next project. His name has also been associated with Human Nature, Machine Man and several other projects.

Meanwhile, the film that he recently departed, The Wolverine, is still looking for a replacement director."

The 15 Coolest Gremlins

15) Electricity Gremlin

I'm a Gremlins purist who feels that the creatures should only be brought to life through foam rubber and traditional puppetry techniques, and I still have nothing but love for the Electricity Gremlin. I'm probably going to sound like a low-rent Dilbert strip here, but there are few things in life that I loathe more than being on hold. So I totally get the pain that he feels while bouncing around the Clamp Centre phone system. Apropos of nothing, but if I ever get around to writing a list about the best deus ex machinas in genre films, you can bet the Electrictity Gremlin will be featured on there somewhere.
