Jim Carrey's 'Cold Dead Hand'

As expected, this video caused quite the uproar with certain media outlets. Huffington Post has the details.

Hanksy caught in the act

Apparently street artist Hanksy was stopped by the LAPD whilst putting up his latest work, "Weird Gal" (seen below) to promote his solo show at Gallery1988 Melrose. Let's hope that doesn't stop him from continuing! More of Hanksy's art below, and click the tag for more:

Ask Your Doctor About Tacos

Tacos are apparently the new anti-depressant on the market, if you didn't know!

Why didn't I think of this earlier?

I call it the "Doritos Locos Pizza" and yes that's trademarked.*

'Clarissa' returns, sort of

It'll be in the form of a new novel, from the original creator of Clarissa Explains It All, Mitchell Kriegman:

"Finally, it's the Clarissa Explains It All book the world has been waiting for. According to EW, Clarissa creator Mitchell Kriegman is writing a where-is-she-now book about Clarissa Darling called Things I Can't Explain, which is tentatively scheduled to come out in 2014.
[The] novel will follow 23-year-old Clarissa as she tries to carve out a career as a journalist and deals with the obstacles toward becoming a real adult: finding and keeping a job in a turbulent economy, the luxury of a first apartment without roommates, figuring out how to deal with parents all over again, and unexpected feelings for a really cute guy who — of course — has an on-and-off again girlfriend.
Via Vulture, and be sure to check out the Clarissa version of "where are they now"! It's almost at 5,000 views!

Some jackass stole a 'Breaking Bad' script from Bryan Cranston

From Uproxx:

Lead actor Bryan Cranston reported someone broke his car window and took a shoulder bag which had his iPad and a copy of his “Breaking Bad” script on March 1, according to the criminal complaint.
Court documents reveal one of Cranston’s employees, Taryn Feingold, was contacted by a confidential informant. That informant detailed a local bar conversation, where a man was bragging about how he broke into a vehicle at the Sandia Crest, and had an iPad and script from the “Breaking Bad” series.
Xavier McAfee was arrested Saturday for the burglary, according to arrest records.
The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office said the script hasn’t been recovered and the investigation is ongoing.

Hopefully the criminal just wanted the iPad and threw out the Breaking Bad script when they realized it didn't have a recipe for meth. Regardless, I hope the script doesn't get leaked and ruin anything for the show's final 8 episodes, set to air this summer. I won't be spoiling anything though, and certainly won't be posting it on here!

Temple Owls for the win!!!

I wish I was able to watch the game instead of working today, but nonetheless congrats to the Temple Owls for advancing to the round of 32 in the NCAA tourney. After attending a Division III school for undergrad, it's pretty neat to be a part of a Division I school during March Madness. Good luck to the Owls in the next round! Recap below, and write-up here.

Fallon replacing Leno on 'Tonight Show'?

Jimmy Fallon rumored to replace Jay Leno on the "Tonight" show. IMAGE It's a rumor for now, but it seems likely that Jimmy Fallon will replace Jay Leno on NBC's The Tonight Show.  I've said several times that Fallon really found his niche as host of Late Night, so it would be no surprise to see him get a primetime gig. I'm all for the move, as long as it doesn't end up like the Leno-Conan disaster from a few years ago.  Let Jimmy keep his show how it is please!

Goodell won't expand NFL playoffs this year

I posted previously about the possibility of the NFL playoffs expanding to 14 or 16 teams, but it won't be happening this year. Roger Goodell shot down that notion recently, as well as commenting on some other issues. Better luck next year, Eagles!

Jumanji makes NO sense

Just got done watching Jumanji on AMC, and let me tell you something. IT MAKES NO SENSE! Allow me to explain:

It is stated several times throughout the film that once the game is finished, everything will go back to normal. The game is indeed finished by the time the credits roll, but everything does NOT go back to "normal". If this were truly the case, all the animals and what not released from the game, along with the hunter, would disappear.

Yes, this happens, but why does the time travel occur? Completion of the game required the kids to play, yet technically they never actually played Jumanji. So how does the game end then? If you want to look at it from a timeline perspective, then the game was never technically played. But this must be false, because both Alan and Sarah have knowledge of all the events that took place during the events of the film, as well as the last 26 years before that that mist be relived by them both. They both know the children and how their parents may die, despite the kids having no idea who the hell they are. So basically, Jumanji has some effed up time travel laws.

To throw another kink into it, Alan and/or Sarah should have died from the hunter's bullet at the completion of the game. We clearly see the hunter's NEWLY ACQUIRED rifle being sucked into the Jumanji board, but this wasn't his original weapon and it wasn't his original ammo as that was why he "purchased" the weapon in the first place. Since the rifle and ammo were from present times and not from the game, that bullet he fired should NOT have disappeared! Now that would have really messed up the time travel in the film, and would have ruined the happy ending.

Please comment and help me understand this conundrum. And yes, I know it's just a silly movie.

St. Patty's Day 2013 LIVE: Drink by Drink

7:27pm: Ok, so I decided to do another live blog this St. Patrick's Day, since I really enjoyed it last year. This year I'll be focusing on the drinks, and we'll see if I can't top last years 21. It'll be hard with a late start this year!
The haul from the liquor store:

7:34pm: Drink #1. I have a feeling you knew this was coming.

7:38pm: Drink #2. The rest of that Guinness.

7:46pm: Drink #3. McSorley's Irish Black Lager. Definite winner.

7:57pm: Drink #4. Another McSorley's. Mmm.
8:03pm: Drink #5. Shot of Tullamore Dew, which I bought in place of Jameson this year.

8:15pm: Arrive at a friend's house before heading out for the night.
8:34pm: Drink #6. Good ol' Miller Lite.

9:30pm: Arrive at T.G.I. Friday's.
9:35pm: Drink #7. Guinness draught from Friday's. Probably a green beer coming next.

9:51pm: APPARENTLY THEY DON'T HAVE GREEN DYE!
Drink #8. Black and Blue. Half Guinness and half Blue Moon.

9:57pm: The Sixers won a game?!? Holy shit!
10:00pm: JD chicken. Nice.
10:17pm: Drink #9. Just your basic Miller Lite.

10:49pm: Drink #10. Long overdue; another Miller Lite draft.

10:57pm: Drink #11. Another Miller Lite, compliments of the fiancé. Not even done the previous drink!

10:32pm: Drink #12. Friend left me his Coors Light. Drank half already. Oops!

12:18am: Drink #13. Another Guinness Draught. Bartender's choice.

12:50am: Leaving Friday's.
1:02am: Arrived at my finance's house. Drink #14. At least one more drink: shot of Tullamore.

1:31am: Drink #15. McSorley's yet again. Last drink of the night? We'll see.

5:25am: Just woke up from a "nap". Goodnight.

9:48am: I wake up to this gem.

Jason Sudekis and Charlie Day team up again

Schmitty and Charlie Kelly are back! From Vulture:

Are Charlie Day and Jason Sudeikis on track to be the next great film comedy duo? After working together on Going the Distance and Horrible Bosses, The Hollywood Reporter writes that the duo has agreed to star in a third film together (which would make the sequel to Bosses the pair's fourth). One Night on the Hudson focuses on a veteran cop who's paired with a rookie on his first night on the job. It's hard to say which will be which, since they are both the exact same age. Bosses director Seth Gordon will direct. Maybe they can get Jason Bateman to cameo as the voice of their GPS or something.

So Nick Offerman did another AMA

Here's just a small sample:

Have you ever considered playing Teddy Roosevelt in a biopic about his life?
I look forward to playing #26 with a relish that can only be described as fervent. The Rise of Theodore Roosevelt and The River of Doubt are fantastic reads, and Theodore Rex is good, but more of the known quantity. You can bet your San Juan Hill that in my portrayal of Teddy, I will wrestle and defeat a Crizzly Bear.

Sausage links or patties?

please send them.

Who is your favorite Parks and Rec character besides Ron? If you had to choose between bacon or carpentry, which would you choose? Why did you decide to start tweeting again? Any future projects you are working on that you can disclose? Here’s a shot in the dark, but is there ANY chance that you could spare an hour to be a guest on my podcast?
1) Duke Silver. 2) Easy. Bacon. Carpentry requires protein to flourish, but Bacon requires only my masticating pork-hole. 3) To use the practical side of Twitter to disseminate information to my peoples, despite the amount of time people waste upon said channel. 4) Doing a play in Los Angeles with my gorgeous wife Megan, Annapurna, late April-June 9. 5) I think you had another question, but it's dark so I missed it.

Do you stay-in/switch-to character when approached in public by fans, or do you prefer to talk to people as simply "Nick?" Do you ever get in line for something that is taking forever (coffee, post office, DMV, etc.) and decide, "You know, this is absurd. I'm about to Ron Swanson this mother out" and just lay down the law?

1) I don't like to ever play Ron when I'm not at work, even over the phone in a radio interview. Ron is not my individual property, I make him together with Mike Schur and our show, so I don't like to whip him out at the lumber yard. 2) I don't like to wait in lines. If there's a long line for coffee, I slap myself in the face and find it just as awakening as an Americano. No one ever needs to go to the DMV.

You're stranded on a desert island. What three items do you bring?

Sharp knife One dozen hogs Small seaplane

What was it like when you had to kiss Rob Lowe?

I'm not going to lie. He made me pop. Literally?

Describe in two words your thoughts on the NYC Soda-ban being overturned.

Hangover 3 Trailer!

Louis CK 'Oh My God' promo

April 13th!

George Lucas basically confirms Ford, Hamill, and Fisher will return for Episode VII

Oops!! Someone let the cat out of the bag!

From Vulture:
“We had already signed Mark and Carrie and Harrison — or we were pretty much in final stages of negotiation." He quickly realized his misstep: “Maybe I’m not supposed to say that. I think they want to announce that with some big whoop-de-do, but we were negotiating with them.” Then, trying to cover up: “I won’t say whether the negotiations were successful or not.”

The Daily Show With John Oliver?

According to Deadline, yes! Though not permanently, as John Oliver will only be replacing Jon Stewart as host of The Daily Show for 12 weeks this summer. Jon will be directing a film during the hiatus:
Jon Stewart will take a 12-week summer hiatus from hosting Comedy Central‘s The Daily Show to make his feature directing debut. In his absence, Daily Show regular John Oliver will be guest host for eight weeks of fresh shows. Stewart has written the script for and will direct Rosewater, an adaptation of the book Then They Came For Me: A Family’s Story Of Love, Captivity And Survival. Published in 2011 by Random House, the book is Maziar Bahari’s harrowing ordeal of leaving London in June 2009 to cover Iran’s presidential elections. With a pregnant fiance left behind, the BBC journalist expected to be away for a week. Instead, he spent the next 118 days in Iran’s most notorious prison being brutally interrogated by a man he knew only by one thing: he smelled of Rosewater. Bahari wrote the book with Aimee Molloy. Scott Rudin will produce with Stewart and Gigi Pritzker. Pritzker’s OddLot Entertainment is financing the film.

The 'show where everything's made up and the points don't matter' is returning!

I don't know how I missed this news earlier since Whose Line was my favorite show to watch before The 700 Level on ABC Family (joke!) but alas it is true. Whose Line Is It Anyway? will be airing new episodes this summer on the CW. Drew Carey has been replaced by new host Aisha Tyler, but Wayne Brady, Colin Mochrie, and Ryan Stiles are all on board. More news as it comes!
