Avengers: Age of Ultron plot details
From Marvel's press release:
Marvel Studios presents “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” the epic follow-up to the biggest Super Hero movie of all time. When Tony Stark tries to jumpstart a dormant peacekeeping program, things go awry and Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, including Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, The Incredible Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye, are put to the ultimate test as the fate of the planet hangs in the balance. As the villainous Ultron emerges, it is up to the Avengers to stop him from enacting his terrible plans, and soon uneasy alliances and unexpected action pave the way for an epic and unique global adventure.
Marvel’s “Avengers: Age of Ultron” stars Robert Downey Jr., who returns as Iron Man, along with Chris Evans as Captain America, Chris Hemsworth as Thor and Mark Ruffalo as The Hulk. Together with Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow and Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, and with the additional support of Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury and Cobie Smulders as Agent Maria Hill, the team must reassemble to defeat James Spader as Ultron, a terrifying technological villain hell-bent on human extinction. Along the way, they confront two mysterious and powerful newcomers, Wanda Maximoff, played by Elizabeth Olsen, and Pietro Maximoff, played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and meet an old friend in a new form when Paul Bettany becomes Vision. Written and directed by Joss Whedon and produced by Kevin Feige, Marvel’s “Avengers: Age of Ultron” is based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series “The Avengers,” first published in 1963. Get set for an action-packed thrill ride when The Avengers return in Marvel’s “Avengers: Age of Ultron” on May 1, 2015.

A Nightmare on Facetime
NEW YORK, October 22, 2012 - Randy keeps Stan from trick or treating on an all-new episode of "South Park" titled "A Nightmare on Facetime," premiering Wednesday, October 24 at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT on Comedy Central.
The boys are all ready to dress up as their favorite foursome, the Avengers, for Halloween. After months of planning their costumes, at the last minute Randy tells Stan he can’t go trick or treating with his friends. Instead, Stan has to pitch in and help his father with a new business venture.

There's going to be a S.H.I.E.L.D. TV show
From ComingSoon:
As reported yesterday, ABC has picked up Joss Whedon's "S.H.I.E.L.D." to the pilot stage as a part of his exclusive deal with Marvel Studios. It wasn't long after this was reported that we all started to wonder where it would fit into the larger scheme of the Marvel films.
Variety now has some quotes from Whedon about the project who said not to call it a 'spinoff.' Whedon also said the series will be 'autonomous' to The Avengers sequel that he is writing and directing.
Whedon will write the pilot alongside his brother, Jed Whedon, and Maurissa Tancharoen (who previously worked with Whedon on "Dollhouse" and "Doctor Horrible's Sing-Along Blog"). All three will also join Jeffrey Bell and Jeph Loeb as executive producers. It's rumored that Whedon may also direct the pilot, but that nothing is confirmed at this time.

TDKR has 3rd largest opening weeked
Despite being marred by the "Batman Massacre" and the totals being withheld until today, Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises still managed to open to the third best opening weekend in history, finishing behind The Avengers and the last Harry Potter movie with $160.9 million. It finished just above The Dark Knight's record-at-the-time $158.4 million. TDKR's total may not have broken the record set earlier this year, but it is nothing to be frowned upon. It did not have the aid of 3D ticket sales and was hindered by a nearly 3 hour run time and the aforementioned tragedy; despite this it was the best opening for a 2D movie ever. Next weekend will really dictate how well the film does, as a small drop in sales will predict good legs for the final installment.
Overall, I personally feel there are too many factors going against TDKR to beat The Avengers but I wouldn't be surprised if it came close or surpassed it. Now strictly in terms of base ticket sales, I'd say Batman takes out the Avengers any day. Stay tuned in the next few weeks, as the movie will certainly continue to rake in the money.

Avengers passes $600 million domestically
Holy shit! Marvel's The Avengers has exceeded even the wildest expectations and will surpass the $600 million mark at the domestic box office today. It still has a ways to go to catch the #2 film in America, Titanic, but will actually surpass the film's initial domestic take (Titanic made an additional $58 million from a 3D re-release this year). It won't surpass Avatar, but can it sink Titanic for the #2 spot? With a re-release definitely, but for now we'll have to wait and see.
Avengers was the fastest film to $100, 200, 300, 400, and 500 million, doing so within 23 days. It had taken another month to reach the next milestone, and would need to last through at least July to have a shot at #2. Once the final Dark Knight film is released, though, The Avengers run will likely end.

The Avengers smashes more records
I wasn't going to post about The Avengers record breaking too much, since it's kind of expected after its massive opening, and I was also waiting to see if it had the legs to reach Avatar or even Titanic. However, it became the fastest film in history to reach $400 million domestically in just 14 days, beating The Dark Knight's record by a ridiculous 4 days. (TDK went on to gross $533 million.) After already reaching the $1 billion mark worldwide, The Avengers seems to have a legit shot of reaching at least the $600 million mark

The Avengers sets record for opening weekend with over $200 million *UPDATE*
Yep, you read that right. The latest super hero flick, The Avengers, set a new record for opening weekend box office. In just 3 days it has grossed an estimated $200.3 million domestically. $80.5 million of that take was on Friday alone, making it the second highest single day total. Saturday brought in another $69.7 million for The Avengers, making it the largest Saturday total of all time. These numbers are all without the international totals, which have set records as well. It'll be interesting to see how The Dark Knight Rises responds later this year.
UPDATE: The film grossed more than studio estimates, and finished with a 3 day total of $207.4 million. Wow. Already setting for best Saturday of all time, it also set the record for best Sunday of all time.
