Jim Carrey and Adam Sandler in Guardians of the Galaxy?

From ComingSoon:
There's been a lot of talk about who will play the lead role in Marvel Studios' upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy, but not as much for the supporting cast. Latino Review is reporting that Marvel is looking into the availabilty of actors Jim Carrey and Adam Sandler for the film. It's not clear which roles they're looking at for them, but the most sensible answer would be the tiny, loud-mouthed rodent Rocket Raccoon.
I know they'd probably be doing the voice of Rocket Raccoon, but it would be hilarious if Jim Carrey were dressed up as a raccoon. Right?

Guardians of the Galaxy is set to film this summer with a planned August 1, 2014 release.

As if we needed more proof that Adam Sandler has gone downhill...

... He just received a record-setting 11 Razzie nominations for this years awards.  Sandler received 2 nominations for worst actor (Just Go With It, Jack and Jill), worst actress (Jack and Jill), worst screen ensemble for Jack and Jill, worst screenplay (Jack and Jill, Bucky Larson: Born to Be a Star), and 2 nominations for worst screen couple (Just Go With It, Jack and Jill).  Oh, and worst film nominations for the aforementioned movies also contribute to his record setting tally.  Despite this, Sandler's "film" Jack and Jill fared worse, receiving 12 nominations despite there only being 10 categories.  Full list of nominees here.

Adam Sandler Career Timeline

After talking to my brother about how Adam Sandler's career has gone from good to bad, I decided to make a chart to demonstrate.  I used ratings from IMDB, Rotten Tomatoes, and Metacritic user reviews.  Surprisingly, his movies haven't gotten steadily worse according to those sources, instead being relatively constant over the years (obviously a few ups and down in between).  IMDB users aren't exactly the best judge of character, and Rotten Tomatoes considers critic reviews which have never been too fond of any (funny) Sandler flick.  Metacritic users, however, share relatively the same opinion as my brother and I do, though the decline isn't quite as sharp.  But seriously, there is no way Jack and Jill is going to touch Billy Madison/Happy Gilmore/The Wedding Singer.  Without further ado, here's the chart:

I'll be doing more of these for other comedians/actors, so stay tuned! Any requests?

Frances Bay dead at 92

Frances Bay passed away at age 92 today, due to pneumonia.  You probably don't recognize the name, but you'd certainly recognize the actress.  She was known for playing Adam Sandler's grandmother in Happy Gilmore and the old lady that Jerry stole the marble rye from in Seinfeld.  More at the Hunffington Post, with video.

Happy Madison

If you're anything like me, you weren't going to see Bucky Larson: Born To Be A Star at any point in time, and you really weren't going to see it after those annoying commercials.  (Side note; is Bucky Larson the same character Nick Swardson played in Benchwarmers? He looks identical.) Turns out this shitty (I can say this without seeing it, and you all know it's not going to be good) movie is a "Happy Madison" production.  What is Happy Madison you say?  Well, aside from a combination of Adam Sandler's two funniest films, it's also his production company.  They've produced such gems as Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo, The Animal, The Master of Disguise, Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo, The House Bunny, You Don't Mess With The Zohan, Zookeeper, and now Bucky Larson.  Most of those are Rob Schneider movies, but I digress.  A number of Happy Madison's productions star a group of guys you will instantly recognize, but probably couldn't name them even with multiple choices (aside from Sandler, Schneider, Kevin James, etc).  So who makes up this mystery crew? The guys at FilmDrunk help us uncover the truth.
