Arrested Development movie in the works?

Followed by another TV/Netflix series? That's the plan apparently, according to Mitch Hurwitz:

"I'm working on the movie right now," the show's creator tells Rolling Stone. "I can't get into much more detail because I don't want to scare anybody off. I don't want to be presumptuous about it. I don't own the property outright – it's a 20th Century Fox property. But everybody seems really into it and really eager to make a movie."
Plans are obviously in flux at the moment, but Hurwitz's ultimate goal is to make an Arrested Development movie and then another season of the show. "The whole thing is sort of unprecedented," he says. "It's always been its own little thing. I kind of feel like the more it stays original, the better chance it has. As soon as it goes back to trying to do exactly what it was before, you run the risk of doing a reunion show or something."

THERE WILL BE MORE ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT!

Creator Mitch Hurwitz confirmed that there will indeed be new episodes of Arrested Development on Netflix. Whether it's a movie or another season remains to be seen, but it won't be like the most recent revival of the show. Hurwitz wants everyone together at once, which sounds like a pretty good idea if you ask me.

Will Netflix give us more Arrested Development?

From Vulture:

Pre-Arrested Development season four, Netflix CEO Reed Hastings called the new episodes a "fantastic one-off" that happened through "non-repeatable" circumstances. "We don't anticipate being able to do seasons five, six, seven. We have less of a stake in it," Hastings said. "Arrested Development is a wildly successful tactic as opposed to fundamental to the strategy." Now that the show is officially back, Hastings has flipped a little on the prospect of further seasons. "Arrested is unique because that’s really up to the talent,” he said on Wednesday. "If the talent were willing to do more… I’m sure we would be willing." While Netflix won't release any kind of ratings, it seems like the new season has been doing well (and also getting pirated). Chief content officer Ted Sarandos has divulged that 85 percent of Netflix user-reviews on the new season have been four or five stars.

Arrested Development premieres May 26th!

From Vulture:

Netflix has announced that fifteen new episodes of Arrested Development will premiere at 12:01 a.m. PT on Sunday, May 26. That's one more episode than the originally promised fourteen, and yes, they will all be made available at once. You may as well call off those Memorial Day weekend plans because now you're busy. Said series creator-executive producer Mitch Hurwitz in a statement, "My simple wish for the show is coming true: that it be broadcast every second around the clock to every television, computer or mobile device in existence."
If you need help deciding how to watch them like I do, Vulture has you covered. I think I'll watch one or two that night, and the rest the next day. Can't wait!

Wes Anderson and 'Arrested Development' Valentines

Obviously a little late for Valentine's Day, but still wanted to post these great valentines made by Jennifer Lewis of Flavorwire (She did those holiday Bingo cards, too). Check out a sample below, with the full Wes Anderson set here and the full Arrested Development set here.

Some Arrested Development news

While I wouldn't necessarily call this bad news, it don't think it's good news either. When the new episodes air on Netflix, confirmed for May, they may seem a little different. Unlike during the show's original run, all of the characters will not appear in each individual episode. It was reported earlier that the episodes would focus on each of the characters, but I think we all assumed there would be an overlap a la typical Arrested Development fashion. Mitch Hurwitz assures that the show's complexity will be encouraged, and that the whole AD clan will be on screen at the same time for the movie.

Good news: More Arrested Development!

Apparently Mitch Hurwitz filmed too much for the upcoming 10 episode run of Arrested Development on Netflix, so that means more episodes! I don't think anybody is complaining, as there will now be 12-15 new episodes of the series. Production is on hold for the time being due to this "complication" but the new episodes are still set to premiere in Spring of 2013. Coincidentally, that is around the time I will be signing up for Netflix.

Arrested Development Documentary Trailer

Apparently this is taking just as long to come out as the actual show did to return! Seems interesting though, hopefully the self-funded project will be available soon.

Details on Arrested Development's return

As I've said before, Arrested Development will be coming back with 10 new episodes on Netflix, before the movie.  However, it was revealed today that these episodes will debut all on the same day, and not in the standard weekly format.  WTF?  Why would you do this?  That's what people do when they need to catch up on a series, or rewatch a series on DVD.  I don't know what Netflix is thinking; this is almost as bad as that stupid Qwikster fiasco. I can't see how this is a good idea.

Vultuer offers some insight.

Arrested Development to return on...

... Netflix?  WTF?  Starting in 2013, all new episodes of Arrested Development will "air" exclusively on Netflix.  Guess I'll be buying a subscription by then!
