How to make Ecto Cooler

If you grew up in the 90s like me, you definitely should remember (along with Clarissa Explains It All) a certain discontinued flavor of Hi-C: Ecto Cooler.  It was green, orangy-tasting, and had Slimer from Ghostbusters on the label.  Sadly, it is no longer available, but a group from Chicago has somehow replicated the flavor and provide a how-to on making your very own Ecto Cooler.  I haven't tried it yet, but will update once I do.  Awesome.

If you don't want to watch the video (or it's too geeky for you) here's the recipe:

What you'll need
  1. 1 gallon pitcher
  2. 3/4 cup orange juice, no pulp
  3. 3/4 cup tangerine juice, no pulp
  4. ~1 tbsp pink lemonade mix (1/3 scoop)
  5. 1 pack Kool-Aid (or similar) orange mix
  6. 1 pack Kool-Aid (or similar) tangerine mix
  7. 1 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  8. green food dye (might need blue as well, for the right green tint)
  9. water
What you'll do
  1. Combine ingredients 2-7 in pitcher
  2. Mix until solids are dissolved
  3. Add water to fill pitcher
  4. Add food coloring until that familar green color is obtained
  5. Refridgerate for an hour, or add ice to drink
  6. Enjoy, and pretend you're a kid again!
