You gotta be kidding me. I'm sure we've all faked something in our lives, but when you're a professional athlete you should have some respect for the game and pride in how you play it. I'm also sure every team has their moments, but it seems as if the New York Yankees have more of those moments. Derek Jeter faked getting hit by a pitch last season (or maybe the season before) and last night Yankee Dewayne Wise faked what would have been a great diving catch into the stands. The worst part is what Wise said after the game: "What was I supposed to do, run back to left field? I saw him
looking at my glove so I just got up, put my head down and ran off the field." Yes Dewayne, you were supposed to run back to the field. Check out the video below, from USAToday. Shame on the umpire, too!

Emotional Stress?
Ok, I'll come right out and say it: Derek Jeter is a pussy. He opted NOT to play in tonights MLB All-Star Game, due to emotional (and physical, somehow) stress due to pursuing his 3,000th hit. Don't get me wrong that's a tremendous accomplishment, but for a veteran player like Jeter the 3,000th hit should be no different from any other. Hell, he hit a homerun for the milestone hit, and had 4 others in the same game. Where was all this stress during that game? If you don't want to play, don't play. But don't come out and give some bullshit excuse like "stress". You play the game for a living, any stress you have has been present since you started playing. End rant.
Even after that rant, I'm glad to see him not playing simply because it gives the National League a better chance to win. With the way the Phillies are playing, home-field advantage in the World Series could be tremendous.

Yankees Suck
What do the words fuck, shit, bitch, asshole, and Yankees suck have in common? They're all profanity, at least according to Major Leage Baseball. A Rays fan attending a Yankees vs. Rays game at the Rays' own stadium got escorted out for wearing a "Yankees Suck" t-shirt. Apparently the shirt was profanity, as the season-ticket holder refused to take off or turn the shirt inside out. He's written letters to the Rays ownership and the league, and rightfully so. He stood up for himself, and doesn't deserve to miss any game he's paid for. Thumbs up to Melton Little.

New York?
So, when a washed up New York Yankees catcher having an awful season as a DH gets dropped to last in the line-up -and then proceeds to remove himself from the line-up- it warrants national coverage and almost 10 minutes on SportsCenter??? Seriously? Why do people care so much? Line-up changes and scratches happen all the time, but apparently it's more important in New York. It's almost as bad as the Brett Favre and Lebron James coverage, which made me want to shoot myself.
I'm talking about Jorge Posada of course, who also has no chin:
