Miller Lite Punch Top vs drumstick

If you've seen the commercial, you'll notice all sorts of random items are used to open the punch top on the new(ish) Miller Lite cans. One of the featured items is a drumstick; if you have any knowledge of drums you'd know the stick can't be pointed or else you'd be playing on some pretty holey? drum heads. Which is why I really didn't think the commercial was accurate when someone did indeed open the punch top with a rounded, wooden drumstick. Shenanigans I said! However, I finally put this to the test, and here are my results:

And there you have it folks, I was proven wrong! Turns out you CAN open the Miller Lite Punch Top can with a drumstick. I'll be damned.

Thoughts on the Miller Lite Punch Top Can

Alright so Miller Lite recently came out with their "Punch Top Can" if you didn't know. It's another marketing gimmick for sure, but does it work?

I've had a few (or more) of the new cans tonight and can give a decent review now. First off, yes the punch top works. It definitely makes the beer flow smoother while drinking it, and eliminates that "gurgle" you get from drinking a regular canned beer. It does what it's supposed to do. I haven't tried it yet, but I'm sure it will make chugging a beer much easier. As for taste? It doesn't change a thing. If you like Miller Lite, drink it. If you don't, this gimmick shouldn't persuade you.

Oh, and the punch top isn't that easy to open. It takes a decent amount of pressure to open it (I used a key and a bottle opener). Also, don't open it before you open the regular opening. Bad news.

The end.

St. Patrick's Day LIVE BLOG

10:06 AM - This is my first attempt at a live blog.  I figured St. Patrick's Day would be a good challenge.  Obviously I'll update throughout the day as my drink total climbs and my ability to function declines.  I'll be taking pictures of all the drinks, but since I'll be updating from my phone I may have to edit them in later.  Regardless, stay tuned throughout the day, it should be fun!

10:27 AM - Here's a shot of me and my girlfriend before the festivities unfold.  I'm sure this will be a good comparison later in the day.

10:35 AM - First drink of the day.  Let's call it an Irish coffee. Wanted to start earlier, but hey, I got all day.

10:56 AM - Girlfriend made me breakfast! It's delicious! Time for another drink soon, too.

12:08 PM - Irish Car Bomb time! Kinda disappointed it's afternoon already.

Miller Lite

After watching the 459th Miller Lite commercial of my life, I realized something:

There is no "Miller" beer.  But there's a "lite" version of it somehow.  Bud Light is a watered down version of Budweiser, Coors Light is less-taste version of Coors, Yuengling Light Lager is reduced-calorie Yuengling Lager, Corona Light is a slightly lighter version of Corona... the list goes on.

Sure, Miller Brewing Company also makes Miller Genuine Draft and Miller High Life, but those have light counterparts as well.  After some research, (i.e. Wikipedia) I confirmed there is no "Miller" from which Miller Lite comes from.  Weird, but true.
