So there's a 65% alcohol beer now

It's fittingly called "Armageddon" and seriously is 65% alcohol (130 proof).  To compare, vodka is usually 80 proof, rum around 93, wine about 25, and beer from 7-10 proof on average. It comes in a 330 mL bottle from Scottish brewery Brewmeister and apparently "has a lot of flavour - malty, hoppy, slightly sweet and lots of yeast". I doubt that, as it probably smells like rubbing alcohol with a hint of beer. To achieve the crazy alcohol content and still qualify as "World's Strongest" beer, the brewery actually froze the beer and removed the ice from the top, effectively concentrating the end product.

 

If you were wondering, drinking one bottle of Armageddon is equivalent to drinking almost 15 beers at 4% alcohol or a 12 pack of 5% beer. Wow.

Americans work the least amount of time to afford a beer

Good news for us Americans! While the cost of half a liter of beer (about a pint) may not be the lowest, people in the USA only have to work about 5-6 minutes to afford said beer. This is the lowest amount of work for any country according to a study by UBS. The average? 20 minutes. So don't feel too bad wasting that paycheck on a night out at the bar! White House releases beer recipes!

As I mentioned in a post earlier this week, someone used the Freedom of Information Act in an attempt to obtain the recipes for the highly sought after White House brews. Well, turns out Barack Obama and the White House complied, and has released 2 of their beer recipes; Honey Ale and Honey Porter. Leave it to someone on Reddit to do something like this.  President Obama seems to be fond enough of the White House's 3 home brews that they have a bit of a reputation.  That's why a request for the recipes of White House Honey Ale, White House Honey Porter, and White House Honey Blonde Ale has been submitted under the Freedom of Information Act. Now it's possible that the recipes won't be released; they may not be classified as "documents" or might not even be written down at all, at least formally. Here's hoping. Miller Lite Punch Top vs drumstick

If you've seen the commercial, you'll notice all sorts of random items are used to open the punch top on the new(ish) Miller Lite cans. One of the featured items is a drumstick; if you have any knowledge of drums you'd know the stick can't be pointed or else you'd be playing on some pretty holey? drum heads. Which is why I really didn't think the commercial was accurate when someone did indeed open the punch top with a rounded, wooden drumstick. Shenanigans I said! However, I finally put this to the test, and here are my results:



And there you have it folks, I was proven wrong! Turns out you CAN open the Miller Lite Punch Top can with a drumstick. I'll be damned.

Apparently the lines on a red Solo cup actually mean something... Not sure if the knock off brands work the same, but I doubt too many people care anyway. Who pours beer to the 12oz line? Fill that shit all the way up!!

Thoughts on the Miller Lite Punch Top Can

Alright so Miller Lite recently came out with their "Punch Top Can" if you didn't know. It's another marketing gimmick for sure, but does it work?

I've had a few (or more) of the new cans tonight and can give a decent review now. First off, yes the punch top works. It definitely makes the beer flow smoother while drinking it, and eliminates that "gurgle" you get from drinking a regular canned beer. It does what it's supposed to do. I haven't tried it yet, but I'm sure it will make chugging a beer much easier. As for taste? It doesn't change a thing. If you like Miller Lite, drink it. If you don't, this gimmick shouldn't persuade you.

Oh, and the punch top isn't that easy to open. It takes a decent amount of pressure to open it (I used a key and a bottle opener). Also, don't open it before you open the regular opening. Bad news.
