Bill Murray's Reddit AMA
Last night, Bill Murray pleasantly surprised us with a Reddit AMA in an effort to promote The Monuments Men. View the whole AMA here, and read below for a few highlights:
“I really love the way Wes writes with his collaborators, I like the way he shoots, and I like HIM,” Murray said. “I've become so fond of him. I love the way that he has made his art his life. And you know, it's a lesson to all of us, to take what you love and make it the way you live your life, and that way you bring love into the world.”
At the time it came out, Groundhog Day was underrated:
“The script is one of the greatest conceptual scripts I've ever seen,” he wrote. “It's a script that was so unique, so original, and yet it got no acclaim. To me it was no question that it was the greatest script of the year. To this day people are talking about it, but they forget no one paid any attention to it at the time. The execution of the script, there were great people in it.”Interesting thoughts on marijuana:
When asked what he thought about the recreational use of marijuana, Murray didn't exactly answer the question—instead, he discussed the American penal system and the failure of the war on drugs. "Now that we have crack and crystal and whatnot, people don't even think about marijuana anymore, it's like someone watching too many videogames in comparison," he said. "The fact that states are passing laws allowing it means that its threat has been over-exaggerated. Psychologists recommend smoking marijuana rather than drinking if you are in a stressful situation. These are ancient remedies, alcohol and smoking, and they only started passing laws against them 100 years ago."Pickles and peanut butter:
"I'm big on pickles, but I've never had them with peanut butter," he says. "I really like peanut butter though. I'm kind of surprised because I like them both so much that I haven't combined them.”
Awesomeness:
When one user asked Murray what it was like to be so awesome, Murray replied, “Nothing prepared me for being this awesome. It's kind of a shock. It's kind of a shock to wake up every morning and be bathed in this purple light.”

Bill Murray to play Pawnee mayor on Parks and Rec?

Could it be? One of my favorite actors on one of my favorite shows? If Amy Poehler has her way, the answer would be yes:
“I want Bill Murray to play the mayor, and I just dream about it every night. I whisper it to a bird and then I open the window and the bird flies away to Bill Murray’s house and just sits on his window and goes cocoooo-cocooooo, and hopefully it just transmits into his brain.”I imagine that actually wouldn't be a bad way to get in touch with the notoriously difficult to contact Bill Murray. I know he'd at least appreciate the humor of the situation. Hard to believe that the mayor of Pawnee hasn't been shown yet on Parks and Recreation, but if anyone could pull it off it would be Bill. Hopefully Amy's and all of our wish comes true!

A Bill Murray version of Edward Hopper's "Nighthawks"
Keep in mind that the following pictures were done with CHALK. Impressive, and then add the Bill Murray factor into it and this is a masterpiece. (From Buzzfeed)

1,000th Post Extravaganza!
I can't believe I made it to 1,000 posts! On second thought, I'm not too surprised at the number, but rather how quickly I reached this milestone. I vowed to make at least 1 blog post every day since I started the B Long Blog way back on April 14, 2011; I only recently broke the streak and missed one day (11/11/12). But I have more than made up for it, as I have now posted 1,000 times over the last 623 days. That averages 1.6 posts per day... not too shabby! I'd still like to see that increase to 2 posts per day, but it's not always easy as I do have a life outside of the blog (I know, it's hard to belive). Click the link above for some stats on the timeframe.
For more stats and facts, look no further! I'll have plenty, so let's get started.
As of now, at 9:30pm on December 26, 2012 (Boxing Day!):
Facebook "Likes" - 49 (Can I get to 50?!?! Sheesh.)
Total pageviews - 35,580
Pageviews per day - 57.11

And if you must know, I'm still considering a Bill Murray spinoff blog!

The Bill Murray Matrix
Much like the Tom Hanks Movie Matrix, Vulture has decided to make a Bill Murray Movie Matrix. With his roles ranging from happy to sad, and dickish to affable, Murray certainly has a broad career represented here. Where will your favorite Murry role fall on the matrix? Click to enlarge!

Yep, not much else to say. Ghostbusters 3 will now begin shooting next fall at the earliest, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Hopefully this can give more time to entice Bill Murray? We'll see. (via)

Ghostbusters 3 will be Murray-less
FUCK! Oh well, maybe it will still be watchable, but I'm not banking on anything. Also, it's shooting sometime next year according to Dan Aykroyd, without the great Bill Murray. Let the online petitions begin!

Bill Murray's latest movie
He's in negotiations to star in St. Vincent, where he'll play a "prostie-frequenting alcoholic who becomes the unlikely mentor to his 12-year-old neighbor." I feel like Bill might already be doing this, so it sounds right up his alley.

Bill Murray Blog?
So I'm thinking about starting another blog devoted exclusively to Bill Murray... What does everyone think? I'd still post about him on this blog, but it seems like the man deserves his own blog. Coming soon?
